High School Popularity

Hey y'all!

I got my first request for a post!

Shawna Lindowski asked me to talk about high school popularity, so I will!

Let's see, high school popularity.

Its rough, the high school food chain.

Getting to the top, being noticed, staying at the top, ignoring drama...

High school is its own little government.

There's the "queen bee", who, especially in movies, is typically a cheerleader or an athlete. I know that at my public school, our grade was too big to have one specific popular girl, but the top 8 I can think of were basketball and lacrosse-playing girls. They all also dated boys from the other middle school in my district.

There's also the "quarterback". Okay, now my situation is special. I was really good friends with the quarterback of my middle school's football team.

Also, there were, again, about 8 popular guys, and I personally was friends with 3 of them. They all played football, they all played basketball, but they were really nice in class, but in public, it was all "look, omigod, don't make eye contact, its that girl who is in all of my classes".

But, thankfully, I didn't see them outside of school often.

Now, I don't know how many of you go to private versus public schools, but private school was different from that. Everyone knew who everyone was, and no one was really excluded. Its hard to forget about someone when there are only 46 people in your grade.

My high school grade this year is 46 kids, and there is no real popular person. But there is the same amount of drama that there would be in public school. For example, I can tell you that at least 3 times, I heard in the bathroom or somewhere else, "Omigod! Did you hear that *BLEEP* gave *BLEEP* a *SOMETHING THAT IS SORTA INAPPROPRIATE* and then found out he was dating someone else!" Well, honestly, I have already heard that about the same amount of times in the gym locker room or in the van on the way home.

So even if someone isn't like the queen bee or anything, there will always be the one person who is the center of drama.

Its rough.

So, Shawna, I replied to your comment, and finished the blog within 30 minutes of posting that. And I was only about a paragraph in.

If you want quantity over quality, find someone else.

And if you want me to write based on your requests, don't ask me to post the night after you request your topic.

Seriously.

But still, love always,
Maia

We want your grade to read your amazing blog! So we are attaching your blog link into our site! How enriching! On Monday, during lunch we will announce that your link is attached, so don't delete the blog or anything like the above comment mentioned! That is a disgrace to society! Whoever wrote that awful thing must take it back! Anyways let us know by replying for permission!

    1. I would rather not have the school read this. Honestly, I'm not convinced that you are really my school. How did you even find this, anyway?

  3. We were updating our profile on the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools, PAIS (Search it up) and we were going through our alumni. Dr. Darin S. Katz, our Dean of Education wanted us to check if any online profiles or networks to check up on the ability to profile our school or to see if anyone wrote Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy on their profiles or biographies. We found several with your the name, but you had a blog. This intrigued us to dig deeper into your fascinating life after school! We already linked the URL into one of the newspaper sites of our school, but it's private. On Monday, we will publicize it! No shame should be applied in this dear! You have a talent and we want to show it to the school! Click on our name to be directed into the main school portal.

    1. Dearly sorry, we have made a few grammatical mistakes such as above where we wrote "several with you name". We actually meant to say "Several with the school name"

    2. I still don't want anyone to see it. I understand that you think I have a talent, but I would rather you don't share it yet.

  4. Oh sorry dear, in order to remove the link, you need to email Mr. Katz yourself, as we permanently linked it. In fact, we might add this to our newspaper! Please stop by the adviser to learn more!

    1. Another reason that I don't believe that this is really a Jewish school is because you are commenting on Shabbat.

  5. Shabbat is observed through the following things including sleeping, reading the Torah, spending time with family during the Shabbat dinner, and such. On the contrary, Melakhah are the prohibited actions. Although our school enforces the idea of the 36 principles of what not to do including turning on and off a computer, keep in mind that we are running a school which consists of over 2,000 students from the Middle to Upper school, we use the computer to keep in track of data and follow up on student grades, semesters, and etc. The comments above were written by a senior student who is enrolled in the newspaper club. She uses her cellphone on shabbat and so do many people, in fact you also commented as well. Surely you learnt that in your bible study classes or other religious based classes? There are also many modifications to the 36 disciplines and many constraints. In the 21st Century, only a few people exist in the US following all the Shabbat customs and disciplines, and running an institution complies for breaks and compromises.
