On fandoms.
Disclaimer: I don't hate fandoms. I am a proud member of a number of them. The people in fandoms are entertaining, and interesting.
But what I'm writing about are the bad sides of fandoms that aren't often seen by the general public.
As a proud member of various YouTube fandoms, the Doctor Who fandom, the Sherlock fandom, the Supernatural fandom, and the Pentatonix fandom, I know what its like to fangirl.
And its fun to fangirl, when you're with some friends who appreciate the fandom as much as you do.
But sometime, fangirls/fanboys get annoying. Fast.
Take one of my friends. Let's call her... Troyler.
Which is a ship that she is obsessed with.
So, I was at a convention like 3 weeks ago, and Troyler was there.
Troyler lives about 3.5 hours away from me, and I don't often see her.
There is only so much of her that I can stand.
I spend 2 months with her every year, and that pretty much fills my quota of her for the year.
But for this convention, she had requested me for her room.
Yes, I had to sleep in the same room as this, well, frankly annoying hanger-on fangirl.
I love her, in small doses.
3 days, 2 nights.
One hotel room with 2 other girls who were barely in there.
And I wasn't allowed to be on my phone, iPod, or any other electronic.
So, basically, since my other friend who Troyler hung onto wasn't there, she was all over me.
Wanting to talk all about Troyler and Zalfie and whoever else she shipped that she thought that I shipped too.
Its annoying.
I'll finish this by saying: I love to talk about my fandom, I really do.
But enough is enough.
If I never heard her squeal the word Troyler again, it would probably be too soon.
And God, I hope she never reads this because she would know immediately that I was talking about her.
That's pretty much it.
Now, don't get on my case about complaining about fangirls/fanboys.
I love being a fangirl.
End of story.
Comment, read, whatever.
Peace.
